ICT as Medium for Advocacy
How Information and Communications and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when you were in grade school and now in Senior High School.
When I was in grade school, the educational methodologies were like the traditional methodologies, with the teacher writing on the board and explaining while all the students were looking at the teacher. The teacher drew the example pictures for us to clearly understand what the physical image was. For instance, in science before, we didn't have any gadgets to search for what it was like, the types of volcanoes, the types of different constellations, or what many scientists looked like. In history, in the subject of Hekasi, the book that we're using is in black and white, and we didn't see clearly what the looks of Magellan, Lapu-Lapu, General MacArthur, and the former presidents of the Philippines were. Back in grade school, it was difficult but we enjoyed it, especially how the teacher made an effort for the students to gain knowledge or learn. But now in Senior High School, I can the ICT improved the education methodologies.
Comparison between before educational methodologies and now educational methodologies. How Information and Communications and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when I was in grade school and now in Senior High School.
a) Before. The singing of the national anthem (form a line, sing the national anthem with the conductor). The teachers help us pupils to form a line, and we're putting our arms forward to form the line properly. The teacher goes onto the stage to be the conductor and we sing the national anthem without any use of speakers or audio on it. The teacher should have heard that every pupil was singing.
After. Now in senior high school, the singing of the national anthem is accompanied by the sound of a speaker producing a loud sound while we're singing in the background. There is a projector and a laptop instead of the conductor.
b) Before. Concept notes. Before we will write the whole discussion or just the summary in our notebook. We will carry a lot of books to copy in there.
After. Concept notes. Today we can download the Pdf by the use of gadgets. Instead of copying, we will just take a picture of it and print it to have a hard copy.
c) Before. Presentation of visual aids. Before our presentation will write on the manila paper and that will be our visual aid.
After. Presentation of visual aids. Now we can create it in productivity tools like Powerpoint and present it with the use of a projector and laptop and that's our visual aid.
d) Before. Class record. Before the teacher to record the grades of the students it will record using the manual class record book.
After. Class record. Now the teacher can use the E-class records /Electronics class records computer wherein they can use the productivity tool such as excel to record the grades of students faster and easier.
e) Before. class dismissal. Before the class dismissal teacher will say class dismissed.
After. Class dismissal. Since it's a pandemic and education do virtually teachers will say goodbye class and end the meeting instead of class dismissed and leaving the class.
f) Before. assignment and research. Before we will write down our notes and assignment in our notebooks and we can research our assignments in the library(books). While for research, we also do it by flipping in the books and searching them one by one to find information and ideas.
After. assignment and research. Now because of technology we can easily take a picture of our notes and assignment and answer it, it is so easy to find an answer on the internet. For research, it is easy to search on the internet for accurate information. It also can save time and effort because instead of flipping so many pages and collecting more books with just one click you can find the information needed.
